Vicente F. David Wins International Award
By Beverly David

Awarded "One of the Best Poets of 2004" by the International Library of Poetry (based in Maryland, USA)  for the poem, "Sibale the Beautiful"  The poetry was also cited as an "Editor's Pick" for the same year.

In a series of anthologies the organization has published, the poem is noted as describing the author's foster homeland in vivid visual and lyrical forms. The poem has also been made available in audio-recorded form
(CD). Vic is mighty proud of this achievement as says it's a privilege to put Sibale on the map of the literary world. Vic will donate the award winning silver bowl, a book and a tape of the poetry to the Sibale Municipal Hall when his family go on vacation next year. His love for the Island of Sibale, Philippines and its people has inspired him to write the poetry some years ago.

Road Widening- Concreting of Poblacion National High School-San Pedro Road
By Sibale Internet News

Congressman Lolong Firmalo approves the allocation of P1M from his Priority Development Assistance Fund(PDAF) for the widening and concreting of Poblacion-National School-San Pedro Road-2km. Considered as a high-impact project, once finished, could accomodate 4-wheeled vehicles (multicabs etc.), that initially will service the route:Town Proper-National High School Compound approximately 1.1km.

Rodel Famarin, Congressional Representative to the Municipal Development Council justifies the urgency of the project. In his meeting with Congr. Firmalo, Mr. Famarin explains the necessity of pursuing this kind of infrustructure to serve as a catalyst or engine of growth for the progress and development of the island. Similar undertaking is now being put in the drawing board to link up Brgy. Calabasahan, Sampong and the rest of the barangays.

Presently, the existing road network is so narrow that it could hardly accommodate the traffic of two vehicles(motorcycle) moving in opposite direction. One has to stop to give way to the other.

Concerns, issues, suggestions, more request for expansion and pledge of supports by various Sibalenhons are posted in the Sibalenhon Forum of the www.sibale.com.

REBOLUSYON...
KONTRAHUYTOK
(GUTOM)
-SIBALE STYLE
By Sibale Internet News

Rodel F. Famarin, Congressional Rep. to the Municipal Devt. Council launches a revolution in Sibale, not a bloody type but a green one. Single handedly leading the
campaign, he exhorted every Sibalenhon

to fight the common enemy:Hunger and Poverty. The battlefields: Idle lands and backyards. The main objective: Attain food sufficiency. The battlecry:Plant! Plant! Plant! and Plant!.......!

Mr. Famarin observes that sizeable number of Sibalenhons get their vegetable requirements from Mindoro. Almost daily, motorboats coming from Pinamalayan are loaded with vegetables like: tomatoes, eggplant, ampalaya, gayabon and the vegetables found the song "Bahay Kubo". Vegetables that can be grown locally and organically in the wide expanse of idle lands and in one's own backyards.

He also noticed that there is now a radical shift in preference among Sibalenhons engaged in poultry and swine raising. Slowly, they are now abondoning the time-tested tradition of raising free range chicken(native type) and native pigs(almost gone now). Not only they are easy to raise but their meat are nutritious and chemical-free.

They now prefer to raise commercial chicken(broiler-45days variety) and hybrid pigs which are very expensive to raise. Besides, the meat of commercially raised poultry and swine are tainted and laced with various chemicals. The net effect: the general health condition of Sibalenhons are now compromised.

Mr. Famarin says, Rebolusyon.........
Kontra Huytok!!!

Concerns, issues, suggestions, plan of action and pledge of supports by various Sibalenhons are posted in the Sibalenhon Forum of the

Our website is helping build connection with friends and relatives who have lost contact for so many years. Here are few of those who benefited from this media.

Here's some of the messages of our guest who browsed into our website:

my mother is also from Sibale, in Calabasahan to be exact. The people there are great, peace loving and kind hearted. I missed the place esp the beach in Cambacnot the rock formation in Matuod-tuod. The last time I was in Sibale was when I visited my lolo and lola in Calabasahan and that was about four years ago. Because of my work, I find it hard to pay a visit again. Missed the place badly.

......
My friends from everywhere will definitely enjoy surfing this site. They wanted more information about our Island Sibale. Since 1991, I invite friends to visit Sibale and enjoy the beautiful beaches, go hiking and meet our wonderful people. I'm sure they enjoyed! Why? They keep on coming back (and the number is increasing every year). Maado yang mga cowboy, buko problema ka pag-estima! Waya gi kakatuyog ag gi-kakaon sa bayay pirming sa beach. Can we encourage everyone to bring along your friends next time you visit our dear island Sibale?
